R9 280x Advice

Hi Everyone,

Looking into upgrading my video card. Currently debating on which model Sapphire card to get. I am really interested in a Toxic model, but am wondering if it really is worth spending the extra money against a Dual-X or Vapor-X model.

Is there a worth while performance difference between the models?

If not Sapphire, which other Manufacture do you guys recommend?

The more opinions the better and greatly appreciated.

the difference isnt really in performance, but in cooling. if you can get the toxic for only a little more than the others, go for it.

Yeah, I saw this deal. I had pulled the trigger on the R9 290 on amazon since they have it for $369 which came out to $399 after tax. But had cancelled it since its a little too rich for me at the moment. Even though its a great deal for such an awesome card. $299 for the toxic seems a little rich for me as well. I am trying to score a used card if I can and save some $$. Mainly trying to get it on Amazon since I currently have some cash in my balance. Wouldn't mind paying the difference from my pocket. But definitely want to be under $300.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep this in consideration. I always hear mixed things about XFX and there quality becoming worse over time.

Decided to re-order the R9 290 on amazon due to me having half the price available in Amazon cash. Decided on the 290 as it would be a much more worthy upgrade from my current crossfire set up.

Haha, ended up changing my mind again and pulling the trigger on a 280x Toxic for $269. I'm only gaming on a single monitor at 1080 res. As much as I would've loved to get the 290, I'd rather save that extra money and see what comes out when the next gen card become available. That and I have the itch to eventually upgrade my CPU maybe sometime by the end of the year. Have seen FX-8320 go on sale for $100 recently. Holding out to see what CPU's will become available at the end of the year as well.
