R9 280X DisplayPort specs

Hi,

On MSI's website, it says the R9 280X GAMING 3G's DisplayPort (1.2) can output 4K @ 50hz. And I wonder - why not 60hz, like every other card with DP 1.2? Other manufacturers of the 280X don't even mention the refresh rate in their Specifications page.

Does anyone know if it's true or a typo? I didn't even know 50hz is a thing.

It has 2 mini-display port connectors. They don't get the full bandwidth of a full display port connector.

It has 2 mini-display port connectors. They don't get the full bandwidth of a full display port connector.

So any graphics card that has a mini DisplayPort instead of the full-sized one, will be limited to 50hz?

On 4k, yes. It doesn't have enough bandwidth.
