Hello, sorry for such a basic question, but there is no manual with the card, and the manual online doesn't go over this. I have a seasonic m12 II Bronze 750 w power supply, and a Radeon r9 280x card. I am unfamiliar with the installation procedure, and there is no helpful manual included. From my power supply, I have a single thick cable with a 8 pin connector, two of those pins are removable. My graphics card comes with two short cables, both have two white four pin connectors (with one pin missing), and the other end is an 8 pin connector. What do I do? I have tried googling and I have read the manual online even though one is included, but I cannot find a specific answer.. thank you so much for the help

PS- would I be able to use two of these cards with the 750 w power supply?

There should be four PCI-E connectors with eight pins with two that are removable. The short cables that come with the graphics card are only used if you do not have PCI-E connectors and have to use four pin molex connectors and are not to be used with your power supply. There should be two sockets at the end of your graphics card. You plug in one eight pin and a six pin connector using one of the eight pin connectors with one of the two pin connectors removed.

Sorry for asking for further clarification, I am a bit scared as I am still not totally sure. Is this right; I have one larger cable that splits off into two 6+2 connectors, so I plug one of those 6+2 in fully (8 pins), and one of those in 6 pins. Is this correct?
Alternatively, if I am meant to use two wires instead of one, I could use ONE of the TWO splits of the large cable of those 6+2 wires, and then plug in an additional pci-e connector. At that point, I have one 8-pin pci-e connector which the other end looks exactly the same, and other 6 pin, where the end looks like a SATA port.

So, if I were to go ahead right now I would do it like this;
(One large cable, split into two 6+2 connectors)
(One 8 pin pci-e smaller connector)
1. Take larger double cable, plug in one end with 6 pins into graphics card. Other is unused.
2. Take the 8 pin, plug into power supply, and other end into the graphics card.

I hope this is correct. Alternatively, I could just use the one large wire, and use 8 pins on one side and 6 on the other, would this work? It seems intuitive that it should be fine, as it is a single cable that has two of those options. Thanks for the help, and that article is really helpful, it looks like I might possibly be able to use a second one, maybe I will use it but without crossfire.

hi guys sorry to open this again but i have a shop built custom PC, been having a few Gray/black screen crash issues in games and been looking around for a solution. I have noted that my r9 280x has a pcie to pcie lead ie not connected directly to my PSU, which is a corsair 650w. it appears that my card is solely being powered from the pci slot alone. dont know if any of you have come across this before ? hmmmmm i think i will head back to the shop and ask them to sort it out point one power supply recommended 750w, and point two direct power supply from PSU.
