R9 280x is crashing my system.

Ever since I got the r9 280x, it has given me problems. Most recently, it seems to be crashing my visuals and audio. Whenever I do something that even remotely uses the graphics heavily (even youtube sometimes, but mainly games), my screen randomly turns to this:

And the audio begins to stutter very rapidly. The only solution is to restart but that only fixes it until I play a game again. Please help!!!

My system specs:
Cpu: Intel i7-2600
Gpu: ASUS R9 280x
16gb ram
windows 10
750watt power supply

I've updated and reinstalled multiple times. Nada. Also, I dont know what PSU is but my powersupply box is 750 watts.

That has all the hallmarks of a failing card for me. Appears fine when not under load but falls over when stressed in the slightest. If possible I would look to RMA it. A 750w PSU should be more than enough for a 280x even if its not a high quality PSU (unless you've gone dirt cheap in which case who knows).

Do you have a.n.other PC (or a mates) that you could test it in, just to discount things like the PSU, drivers etc.

Yeah I could try it in my brothers computer and give it a whirl. I dont have warrenty on it anymore so I can't RMA it. I'm just trying to save up for a gtx 980 ti

Just remember to uninstall his PC's GPU drivers first then do a clean install of AMD's crimson driver suite after the card is installed and you've booted the PC, Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Sinistercr0c is somewhat right . Now some power supplys may be advertised as 750 . Really they only output 600 or 500. What brand ? Also not only the wattage but the amps on a rail

You definitely want to confirm that your PSU is up to the task as Mac070 suggests.

I got that exact screen with a sound loop when OCing my 7950 (=r9 280) when I didn't have enough voltage going to the chip. That does make me suspicious that your PSU isn't able to provide a nice stable 12V to the card under load.

Of course there's no guarantee it is the PSU, it may well be the card too, but definitely post back with the exact make and model no. of that PSU unit, even if you have to take it out of the case to find out.
