R9 280x or GTX 960?

Recently, I've decided to buy Radeon's 280x for my next GPU. But with the GTX 960 coming out soon, I'm not sure what I should get. I've found the XFX 280x for $180, and it's rumored that the 960 it'll cost around $220 or $250, with a speed of something inbetween a 280x and a 290.
But my Uncle (and aunt) is (likely) coming next week for Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving to help me assemble all the other components, so I'm a bit strapped on time.

I have the 280x cheaper than projected for the 960, but I'm not sure if that extra step will prove anything useful. What do I dooo?

A 280X is more than sufficient if you're playing at 1080p. However I avoid XFX like the plague.

Also you should google "280x artifacts" apparently the entire line up of 280x's is effected by this problem...i know mine is lol

If you like a thermally efficient card wait for 960 else go for 280x that is good but some price drop may happen once 960 is launched

I don't see the reason towards all the hate towards XFX , you might have had some issues with them however they offer life time warranty and not badly rated on most websites ( Reviews )

They certainly have their problems and so do other card manufacturers , personally I've owned more than 5 XFX cards in the past 2 years without any sorts of problems .

Most R9 280X has had the artifacts till the latest updates so its not XFX's problems rather the PCB supported by AMD.

The life-time warranty is a positive thing in case you needed to RMA the card at any time and for the price $180 you should grab it and its worth the risk.
