I've OCed tons of Nvidia GPUs, but this is the first time I'm dealing with AMD. MSI afterburner is giving me the option to add +100 mV to the core voltage. This is INSANE compared to the normal +12 mV you could give Nvidia cards. So, my question is, how much mV is safe to add when OCing the r9 280x? Also, it's an MSI card. Thanks.

Edit: Oh and, what's a safe power limit as well?

Solution
first increase mhz on both core and memory with stock voltage.increase by steps of 25mhz and stress test. when you find the limit of stock voltage only then increase it slightly. and retry the whole process. dont try to use all the additional power given. i would try to keep temps below 80c. make sure you have a solid psu unit. if you deal corrupted graphics or failing driver while gaming, you are close of being stable. either further increase mV or lower Mhz a bit. better focus on increasing core speed. that has the greater impact on performance.

how much performance you can get in-game if you OC your GPU for example? if i get on BF4 90fps~ with stock settings?

if you have performance above 60fps in the games you play there isnt a need to o/c. the performance boost though depends on the games and the cpu you have. obviously hou have a strong cpu to be scoring such fps in BF4. the goal is to increase the minimum and average fps . not the maximum.

i agree with you but what if you get 30fps ingame and how much you can get by OCing like 35 or more?

each game is different and the results will vary. if you get 30fps just lower or even disable antialiasing. i have it disable on every game i play and allows me to max out everything else and still have stellar performance.from 30fps even with the highest o/c you cant jump to 60
