I am looking for a new graphics card and to me the r9 280x seemed the obvious choice as I want to play games at 1080p and it has 3gb of vram. However I have read a number of reviews that say it is incredibly unreliable and breaks within a few months. Is this true and if so what are good alternatives. Thanks in advance.

they tend to come wih at least a year long warranty so dont worry. I'd recommend buying from amazon if you're too worried. they offer free returns in case something goes wrong and replace faulty components asap.

I personally like to spend whatever the difference is in price and get the product on amazon cause of the added peace of mind.

The 280x is also a good card, much better than the 380 performance wise and comes with more VRAM too, (3GB as compared to R9 380's 2GB) although a 4GB Variant is available, the 280x is much better performance wise.
