R9 280x vs GTX 680

Should replace my GTX 680 with a R9-280x? I solely play battlefield 3 & 4.....i currently run a 3570k, gtx 680 SC 2GB, 240 pro SSD, windows 8 pro. Currently getting decent frames on medium settings @ 720p & 1080p (average 70-90)....thoughts?? Not a huge fan of AMD but seems like they have an edge here....

In this chart , the 670 is on par with the 7970 aka R9 280x, therefore the GTX 680 is faster than a 670 therefore faster than the 7970 aka R9 280x.
So that means the 7970 would be a downgrade by the figures in the charts.
If you want an upgrade get a 780 or the R9 290X.

LOL, the 280x is better then 7970Ghz buy few % in most benchamarks, and if you see the Sapphire Toxic version of 280x it almost in pair with GTX 780
So the GTX 680 vs r9 280x is an nice upgrade for almost same price, basicly you can sell ur 680GTX for 250€ and buy Toxic Version 280x for 300€.

And monsta, dont talk crap, and tell how it realy is,
check reviews here or elswhere and you will see that Sapphire Toxic r9 280x is on pair with GTX 780 in lots of benchs, but lose some, and other r9 280x are close to 780GTX to thoo...GTX 770 is far behind excpet 1 game.

Even if is rebranded 7970 Ghz edition means nothing, but not only rebranded its better in everyway. NOT AMD or NVIDIA fan unlike you.

Battlefield is supposed to get a mantle update correct? That should bring a huge benefit to the 280

According to this website http://www.hwcompare.com/15854/geforce-gtx-680-vs-radeon-r9-280x/ the r9 280x should be 50% faster but this is just based on numbers so you might wanna check benchmarks on youtube.

Battlefield 4 runs better on AMD cards and will run even better with mantle.

The 280x is very similar in performance to the gtx 770 a little better in some games and a little worse in others. The 770 is a rebranded 680 that runs faster. The 280x would offer better performance but I would say its not worth the money to buy a card that's only a little bit better.

my 280x asus dcu2 v2 card is on par almost with a 780 so it depends on which card
