R9 280x vs gtx 760?

Hi im looking for a new graphics card and I was wondering if the new R9 280x is good? For around 320 dollars but for a evga gtx 760 FTW 4gb, its only 340 dollars. Should I get the GTX instead? how much is the performance difference?

Also my PSU is 750W and its running a 4.5ghz i7 2700K, 32 1600mhz ram. I think it will be okay either graphics card, correct?

The 280x is a rebadged 7970 and is more powerful than the 760

And yes, that PSU should be good enough for either (provided that its 12v rail is up to the task)

I'd go with the 280x. From what I've seen it out performs the 760 and 770. It's also got Mantle which could be a big success or a flop, no one knows. What's the PSU's name and brand?

The 280X is a great choice and is the better of the two, go with one sporting a good cooler like the Sapphire Vapor-X

VRAM does not equal performance, the 760 isn't powerful enough to use that much anyway

A 760 can't even properly utilize 4GB of VRAM so buying a 4GB model is a waste of money

So in the end what's better in my games? Im using AMD drivers because I have a HD 7770. Im always jealous when i see nVidia's new drivers saying it includes optimizations for the new games. I pretty much see their updates every few weeks. Looks like they are really on top of things.

Don't be jealous, some of the latest Nvidia drivers have been quite rubbish

Also considering the promise of mantle, I would stick with AMD and see how it goes, especially in this case the 280x is clearly the superior choice

Its an OCZ modxtreme. It is t certified. When I asked about it, he said brands like ocz corsair, CM are are pretty much bronze certified reliability. I don't know, could be marketing crap.

Yeah that's a decent PSU. I'd grab a 280X and chuck it in your system, If you're playing at 1920x1080 you might not need the 4GB version. I've got a 2GB GTX 670 and it's only been maxed out once.

right now games dont use the whole 4GB at least from what i know and what ive been told, it could just be your card. Many people do have 2GB for the gtx 770 and so on, and get some surprising results while maxed out. If you 2 or 3 way sli your 670 im sure you could max out pretty easily.
