r9 290 and 6700k

I own an r9 290 and an i5 6600k overclocked to 4.5ghz on stock volts. As newer i5's and i7's will easily max every game without an overclock.
However on gaming the difference between the 6600k and the 6700k should be very minimal in difference.

Now Im not sure what games you will play, but.
Just Cause 2 benchmark= 115fps average.
BF4 with mantle and 2xmssaa ULTRA= 85fps average and minimum of about 67 of what I saw.
In Uniengine heaven benchmark I got a score of 1704 pts and avg fps of 67.6fps.

Shadow of Mordor= avg 77fps. min 44fps. On the benchmark.
In 3Dmark I ahve seem to have lost my results...

THIS IS ALL ON 1920X1080. So obviously at 1080p the r9 290 will max almost every game easily. The CPU (especially high end CPU's) are less important in gaming and your performance in games leans heavily on GPU performance.
On higher resolutions you will see some settings you will need to turn down.

Here is a video with some more benchmarks.

Sorry this is not a solution but a question out of curiosity to Anonymouselite5. I am curious because of your score in unigine heaven being so low because I was planning on upgrading my system to a 6600k however that score has me worried as with my current phenom 955 (oc to 4.3ghz) and an asus r9 290x (also overclocked to 1125mhz) I get a score of 1906-1908 (at 1080p) and an avg fps of 71.4- 71.8 (checked a dozen times over) I thought a 6600k would be a decent upgrade but now I'm worried it wont give me an increase at all are u sure that score is right?

Ill run the bench again, just to make sure.
Note that uniengine heaven is only a GPU benchmark, CPU has little to no impact in it.
Also what settings did you go with? Just ran it at 8x msaa and extreme and ultra DX11.
Got 1521.. 60.4fps.
Also my score when I tested was at stock GPU settings. If you upgrade your CPU you'll only see a difference in games that require a bit more CPU grunt. Such as BF4, GTA5.

Ahh thanks for that it put my mind at rest so will still go ahead with 6600k because of the z170 chipset benfits plus think the skylake will be a decent upgrade. Plus I play Total War franchise believe this is quite cpu reliant so hopefully will see improvement. Oh Yeah my bench was at x8 msaa but not on ultra and extreme, plus the overclock if its is only testing gpu that is probably enough to account for the difference. Thanks 4 reply. To the op I may get the 6700k instead if I can stretch to it if I do will post benches for r9 290x and 6700k :)
