Well for $600-$700 you're in GTX 980 Ti territory. But how much different is a GTX 980 Ti as opposed to crossfire 290x? Well, a little and a lot.

The 290x CF seems to definitely be the 1440p winner in average frame rates. But it suffers more in minimum frame rates. Then you have to consider games like Fallout 4 which run much better on Nvidia. So, is this a useful buy? Well, I'm not sure really, I suppose it depends on how much you get for your current cards.

If I were you I don't think I would do it (unless if selling the old equipment got me within $50 of the new card). Maybe wait a few months for Pascal to come out. But I just don't see that much of a difference between the...

Currently running a 1080p monitor, I am wanting to upgrade to a 1440p monitor. Currently performance in BFH max setting 110 frames. assassins creed syndicate high setting 45 frames (need more v ram to run any higher) I would be willing to spend 600-700 depending on how much I can get for the old ones. Also not that both cards are water cooled with a closed loop water cooler.

Thanks, Jett

Are you upgrading to 1440p 144Hz or 60Hz? And would you be looking to integrate these into your water cooling loop as well? Finally, the $600-$700 budget is that including the money received from selling the old cards, and would that also include the price of waterblocks (if applicable)?

Just 60HZ, my goal is 60 fps at ultra, lowest I am willing to go is around 40fps. I do not have a loop because my cpu is cooled by an h100i and each card has its own h60. That budget is including the price of selling the old card and I will not need a water block.

I see exactly what you are saying. I think I could get anywhere between 250-300 for each card and its just not that much or an improvement for the the money not to mention hassle.

Side note, do you think my current system is up to the task of playing games at 1440p? Also do I have enough V-RAM for 1440p. I have even kicked around the idea of picking up a 290x with 8gb of V-RAM
