R9 290 + intel i5 4690 or r9 290 + monitor

Hello guys,

Just wanted to ask a question.
What is better
1. To buy a R9 290 tri-x with
intel i5 4690 and b85 pro4
2. To buy a r9 290 tri-x with
a ultra wide lg 25 inch monitor

I will buy a new power supply of course and i play games on a 42 inch tv full hd but it is really hard to use the mose properly and there is always someone on the tv.

Current system:
R7 260x Sapphire
Amd fx 4130 (3.8ghz)
Asus M5A78L-M lx3
Seagate barracuda 1tb
Silverstone 500w psu

Why not get a 280x and a smaller monitor?

If your current system consists of an AMD motherboard, you'd have to also buy a new MB for the Intel processor. So you might as well go with the card and monitor even though the FX-4130 will have trouble keeping up with the card.

The op did include a b85 motherboard in his post. It just seems a bit of a waste pairing an r9 with that processor because even with all the eye candy turned on the CPU is going to hold back the fps

Eh easily done, I miss stuff all the time because I'm always checking threads on my mobile. What do you reckon to the idea of the 280 or 280x with the i5 and a smaller 21 inch monitor? At least 21 inches is better than nothing when everyone is hogging the TV!

That would probably give the OP the best of everything and still be able to afford it. The R9-280 is an underrated card. I have one on my other machine. Very impressed with the performance : cost. Out performs the (usually) more expensive GTX 760.
