The R9 will be more future proof but the r280X / 7970 is an awesome card and runs all current games at 1080p on ultra with no problems at all.

Yes; the X model has virtually no difference in games. If you can afford the 290 get it over the 280X and overclocking that.

r9 290 is 350 euro and r9 280x oc is 250 euro,the r9 290x is 500 euro in my cantry

Yes the R9 290 is a beast of a card and totally worth a buy, it's only a few percent behind the 290x in performance but a lot cheaper.

They are both excellent cards though, get whichever one you prefer, they should both max out games at 1080p
