R9 290 wont display after overclocking attempt

So after doing a lot of reading (obviously not enough) I thought I would use AMD CCC to overclock my card. I did it gradually, following what other people had set theirs to, and everything was fine, I got some increased FPS. All of a sudden, screen flickering everywhere, then black screen.

After restarting my computer, it boots up and displayes fine, all the way to the desktop. As soon as I try to open CCC, the screen flickers and goes black again. I need to get into CCC to change it back to defaults.

I though system restore might work, but it didn't fix the problem. I feel utterly stupid.

Safe-boot by mashing F8 while powering on. Then disable the overclock by resetting the defaults on CCC (or even uninstall if it black-screens), then restart the PC to go back to your normal operating system.
