Hello. I have an old GTS 450 in my pc and was looking to upgrade to something powerful. Was looking forward to the newly released RX 480, but in my country the price is really high, at about 400+ dollars. I see a lot of people upgrading, so I think it's a good opportunity to snatch a R9 290X from ebay at around 100 dollars since it offers really good performance. Briefly, my specs are: AMD Phenom II x4 980BE, GA-MA770-DS3 motherboard, 8 GB ram ddr2, 2 250Gb HDDs. The problem is that I only have a 520W psu (this: https://www.dateks.lv/en/cenas/psu-barosanas-bloki/109215_intertech_booster_sps_520_520w_80mm_fan) and from what I see the R9 290x is really hungry and I'm pretty sure it will not run on my computer. So what do you think? Should I wait and get an RX 480, which is really power efficient and would easily run on my current setup, when I find it at a resonable price or get a R9 290x and upgrade to a 750w psu? And also, would it be possible to run the R9 290x with my current psu at a lower voltage/frequency till I upgrade? Thanks!
