Is it normal to not maintain 60 fps max settings on world of warcraft with this powerful card , or am i having a problem?

PC Specs:
Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Intel Corporation DP67BG Motherboard
476 GB Cruical SSD in raid 9
465GB Western Digital Blue
1080p Asus Monitor 60hz refresh rate

Solution

This is normal.

It's not 'normal' necessarily, no.

Did you ever achieve greater performance? How long have you ad the card?

The 290X is a 300W card though - what's the make/model of your PSU?
I'd suspect it's either one or more of:
1. Old & worn out
2. Poor quality
3. Not capable of adequately powering the 290X

As a previous R9 290x owner, I was able to maintain 60+ FPS on all ultra settings (minus draw distance) EXCEPT in large cities like Orgrimmar, depending on how many players were in the area.

If you're in a densely populated area, you're going to dip down into the 30's easily.

I should also note this includes things like large raids, world bosses with tons of particles and particle density. I recall facing the big demon world boss from Warlords of Draenor and getting 5 FPS, due to 40 people being in the raid and the amount of particles that were being flung everywhere from spells and abilities.

my PSU is Crosair RM 750 , i only have great performance on empty zones tho , been 1 year and 2 months for the card

is this drops caused by the card ? or is it from the game old engine and bad optimize maybe ?

if it is from the card , what upgrades do you recommend to maintain 60+ fps with good graphics settings on raids and and lots of particles and particle density like you said

any ideal upgrades to run the game with the max settings (10) ?

is it possible to maintain 60 frames on high crowded places , orgrimmar , raids , with newer specs ? i have been saving about 1000 us dollars for upgrades

It really isn't, because unlike games that aren't online, WoW constantly streams some form of data at all times. It's the same as any other online game. Server lag, over population, particles caused by overpopulation, it all contributes to FPS rates.

I have a GTX 1080 and I still don't maintain 60+ FPS at all times. In crowded areas, I still dip down into the 40's and 50's.

so there is no point doing an upgrade ? even for other games , sorry i know this is out from the subject

You didn't list your GPU. An upgrade right now from your i7 2600 would be good. A 6600k or 6700k would be a great investment right now, and I'm loving my GTX 1080 GPU. Just depends on what kind of games you're looking to play. I run everything at 60+ FPS on ultra settings with my rig, including brand new titles. Plus DirectX12 is right around the corner, you'll need something to support that..

my card is Sapphire R9 290x Tri-x OC 4GB 1040 GPU clock 1300 memory clock
