Hi ,I hope you all are doing alright

I have the option to buy a used R9 290x 8GB or GTX 1650 4GB

Now my knowledge is mostly nvidia and im confused here since benchmarks show r9 performs better but is an older card

R9 is used and the deal aint bad ,i stress tested it to check stability and GTX 1650 would be a new one

Which should i go for gaming ,if i choose r9 ,would it be good for gaming or should i build up money for 1650

Any advice i would appreciate a lot please

Thanks

Solution
Which power supply are you using? The AMD card really needs a good high power PSU, the 1650 just a standard one

If the R9 290X is 20% cheaper, get it
this one has direct X feature level 12 (12_0)

the GTX1650 directX 12 (12_2) and might be nicer in some situations but slower FPS (10%) in nearly every game

Hey ,thanks for the reply
I'm using a 450W power supply but that won't do it since its more like a general use than a high performance one to feed the card

Will have to look into that and thanks a ton once again

I would go with the 1650, for the power savings. A 450W PSU is going to be unreliable with an R9 290X. I replaced an R9 280X with a 1050Ti in one machine, and though the performance varied between the two cards depending on the game, the power draw was way lower with the 1050Ti and allowed me to keep my older PSU going a while longer. The 1050Ti was a worthy investment for me.
