R9 290x or Gtx970 in 1440p

I tend to use a sigle graphic card on my pc.
Overall, which one is better in 1440p ??
Sapphire r9 290(x) tri-x oc or Msi gtx970 gaming 4g

In some games the GTX 970 is better at 1440p, in some games the R9 290x.

With the 3.5/0.5 vram with the GTX 970 you may come into problems when maxing out games at 1440p, so it's better to get the 290x.

And for those ranting about the 3.5GB issue; stop, just shut up, the amount of ignorance you guys have is insane, you exclude the rest of the cards power over VRAM then you use it as an excuse to not buy it. I'm only going to say this once, 3.5GB is more the enough to VRAM for most games today, anymore is just unneeded unless you are doing something either then just games. I was pretty pissed when I heard about the false advertisement but I didn't care, it was performing more then I wanted it to.

^ honestly it depends on your case,cooling & PSU.
The 290x runs hot & is a power hog ,there's no way around that.

For some people its a legitimate purchase over a 970 ,for others it not.

What are the rest of your system specs?? (Including case & PSU)

For the case Im now prefer air240 but if i use 290x, i will change to 230t
Xeon 1231v3-z87m gaming

Also, can you send a link to said products? Make sure It's not the blower design of the R9 290X.

If the price difference is really that big (I don't think so tbf), then you should definitely choose the R9 290X.

R9 290X is the GPU you should buy.

The windforce 290x is a very very good card,your psu is fine for it .
If you go with that & the 230t you wont be disappointed imo (It may be a little tight in the air 240)
