r9 290x vs. r9 290

Hey guys, so I was wondering which one would be best for a triple monitor display? I currently have a gtx 770 2gb. Is there a big difference between the 290 and the 290x. All i really am going to use this computer for is programming and gaming. And what settings could I run the games at.

My Specs:
CPU: i5 4670k;
Memory: corsair 8 gb 1600;
Motherboard: MSI gd45 gaming;

the 290X is just a little more performance, the 290 is much better bang for your buck. either will max out any game.

If you are gaming on 3 monitors and plan on running a single card I would say go with the 290x. To be able to max every game with high FPS running a crossfire setup is your best bet. 3 monitors can get demanding for a single GPU, especially if you are running 120hz+ monitors..

Yeah, i figured that. So i'd probably be able to run it at like what: high to medium settings with a single card.

With a single 290x on 3 monitors @ 5750x1080p I would say you should be in the area of 50-60 FPS on high settings in a game like BF4, but it is going to change from game to game so it is hard to say for sure what kind of performance you will get. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
