Hi, I've had the R9 295x2 for a while now. I Actually received 4 dodgy EVGA ACX 780ti's in a row from Scan (I had 2 in SLI) so I decided enough was enough and got them to send me the R9 295x2. Safe to say its an absolute monster and I'm delighted with it, extreme performance at quite low temps!!

Anyway on the back of the card there is only Dual link DVI and 4 mini display port connections (I thought it was strange not having a full size display port slot??), I have it connected via Dual Link DVI to my 1440p Asus PB278Q 27-Inch.

It seems to function fine to me but I was wondering if display port to mini displayport would be better for 1440p or would it just be the same, or worse with it being mini at one end? I always had my 780ti's connected via full size displayport as I heard it was best but I obviously can't do that on my new card!

If anyone has a suggestion or input about which cable is best to use at 1440p that would be much appreciated.

Specs are: Asus PB278Q 27-Inch 1440p PLS Monitor, i7 3770k @ 4.4ghz, Noctua NH-D14, Asus P8Z77-V Premium (BIOS 2104) , 16gb 1600mhz Corsair Ram, R9 295x2 8gb, Asus Xonar D2X, Seasonic XSeries 1050w, Samsung 830 Pro 256gb SSD (OS Windows 8.1), Crucial MX100 520gb SSD, 32gb SSD built in to mobo, 2tb Seagate HDD, LG Blu-ray drive, NZXT Phantom Full tower (3 x 120mm fans, 1 x 140mm fan and 3 x 200mm fans)

Many thanks

Hi,

congrats on the nice system.
I am running 1440p and 4k both via the miniDP ports and subjectively they are the same. I presume at 4k, miniDP would be the standard but to each his own. I bought the cheapest cable from Amazon miniDP to DP, 3 of them in anticipation of future 4k surround....I wish...

good luck..
