Just installed my 295 x2 today and it idles like 38c-42c
and when im in games full screen or in furmark the Gpu clock (on gpu 1 or 2) never gets up to its max its always like 600-800 during games. Why is that? My 270x would always max out during full screened games.

Solution
Probably doesn't have to. The R9 295x2 is an extremely powerful GPU. If you have Vsync on, then once it produces enough FPS to match your screen refresh rate, then it isn't going to produce anymore, and thus lowers its power consumption and clock speed to save power.

i was playing league no vsync at 144fps

and then Furmark at 230fps.

What the load temps? The new GPUs like the R9 290, R9 290x, and R9 295x2 do something which is kinda like reverse turboing. They set a higher clock speed, and if heat and power draw doesn't allow for it then the clocks are lowered to compensate.

In addition cause the high power draw if I recall correctly, you need a very high end PSU to handle the power feed on the PCI-E power connections without starving the GPU or killing the PSU PCI-E power connectors from too much voltage running through them.

Im running an 800 watt Psu and On league Load temps were like 61c

What CPU (and its max frequency) do you have?

It might be a CPU bottleneck.

Also, you say you're playing LoL at "144FPS"? But you don't have VSYNC ON?

Please clarify this "144FPS" statement because if that's mostly staying fixed then it sounds like you DO have VSYNC enabled and are on a 144Hz monitor.

Amd fx 8350 Stock 4.0 Ghz. I play on a 60Hz monitor but I dont use vsync and I cap the fps at 144 in game to intentionally try and get the core clock up on the 295x2 with no luck. I have tried uncapped as well.

Everything I can find about that PSU looks like it should do alright with that GPU, so kinda hard to say.

Photonboy here has some good ideas on what to look into next, it very well could be the CPU. I had kinda read past the FPS bit also, he is right if you are right at 144FPS on a 144Hz display, then Vsync is on somewhere.

Uncapped what does it stop at? Could be a bandwidth issue or a CPU bottleneck issue. AMD doesn't have PCI-E 3.0 and they don't have the best CPUs currently so its very likely the CPU either can't handle it to go higher or the bandwidth is insufficient.

Try a CPU overclock uncapped, see if that helps.

Uncapped it usually goes to 120-180 Fps on league highest settings with Antialiasing

Decided to test minecraft with heavy shaders and here's what im getting

Gpu 2 is not shown but its at 300 Mhz apparently (60-80 Fps) with heavy shaders

Bump: im still having the issue with the 2nd Gpu not rising core clock or memory clock.

Is it bad that Im running idle at 41-45c with the 295x2? I never get above 60c when I play games..

Dunno if that will help

Is this a standard thing on the 295 x2? MSI afterburner shows Gpu 1 And 2 usage go up when i Furmark in fullscreen but is the Gpu 2 clock not going up normal or inaccurate and it actually is going up? its almost always the same temp as gpu 1..

Ulps is disabled in registry and Msi afterburner which starts on bootup.

Hi,

I'm really not sure exactly what your problems are...

Did you get 144FPS in LoL before but now you aren't? If performance dropped, what changed on your setup?

Also, not all programs can use CROSSFIRE so would only use a single GPU.

So I guess we need your average frame rate for a game that supports Crossfire and has benchmarks online we can compare. Or better yet a Benchmark program such 3DMark series or Catzilla or whatever that supports Crossfire.

Anyway, as it stands now I can't even tell if you have an actual problem as this post is a bit confusing.

Looking back on this this post is way too confusing and its been solved. No need for me to explain.

Okay.
For future reference you should choose a "Best Answer" if you feel there is one, say "thanks it's sorted... with an explanation" and close the thread to stop updates.

Just saying "it's been sorted. no need to explain" can come off a bit rude to some people especially for those who helped and are curious or those with the same problem looking for a solution.

Cheers.
