I have had dual GPU solutions in the past with my 3870x2 stuck in CF since they were made to be Master/Slave, but I was always able to disable one GPU (slave) and play with only one via ATI CCC.

I was wondering if this was possible with the 295x2 since it's 2 GPU's on one PCB and I was hoping that it was still possible via AMD CCC to disable CF even if I cannot remove the second GPU.

Thanks!

I've had 0 issues with microstuttering so far. What games and res are you planning to run? You can absolutely enable/disable xfire in the ccc panel.

It will be like having a pair of 290x cards running without xfire when disabled.

wow talk about loads of misinformation around the web, this is awesome news. So I can run the 295x2 basically as slow as a normal 290X when out of CF.

So this means if I encounter games with microstutter then I can disable 1 GPU and thus eliminate the stutter in case drivers are slow to come out? Just being super thorough that you know your stuff. For $600 I can get the 295x2 but I was leaning toward a 290X for fear of microstuttering
