First off here's my specs:

i5 3570k overclocked to 4.4
xfx r9 295x2
asus p8z77-v pro
EVGA SuperNova 1300w power supply

I just installed the r9 295x2 and have had tons of issues since, I'd love some help from somebody who's experienced this.

What I've done:
I tried installing 14.4, 14.6 and 14.7 drivers since 14.4 was the first to support the r9 295x2 but each caused blue screens and crashes during installation and after windows startup.
I had to restore my pc to a previous point to fix it, then installed the offically supported 14.12 drivers. the pc starts and works, but if I try to run a game or a gpu stress test the computer crashes and restarts after a couple of minutes. I've monitored gpu and cpu temps leading up to crashing, nothings overheating and causing shutdown. Has anyone had this issue with the XFX r9 295x2, and does anyone know a solution? I'd love to put this new beast of a card to work

UPDATE: I get the following in whoCrashed reports
dxgkrnl.sys
Error: THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M
Bug check description: This indicates that a thread in a device driver is endlessly spinning.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.

atikmpag.sys
VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.

UPDATE 2: I put my old 7870 back in the computer and everything works fine. is it possible I got faulty hardware?

I kinda have had the same issue, except for it just shuts off without warning instead of restart. That was my PSU issue, I had the Corsair AX1500i, now I have the Evga Supernova 1600w P2 and the problem is solved. Although I have heard of this problem before, just not with the 295x2.

how were you able to determine it was the psu? I just upgraded from a 750 to a 1300w for this gpu, it'd be a shame if that's the cause

Well, this time I had a brand new mobo that has a lot of features, it brought me to a screen that says there was a power surge and the mobo stopped it. So then I tried the Evga PSU later and then it worked, no shut downs.
