So im about to buy a new GPU for my pc and i've been looking at the MSI r9 (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/cZRFf7/msi-video-card-r9380gaming4g) 380 and also the Asus GeForce GTX 970 turbo (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HbjWGX/asus-video-card-turbogtx970oc4gd5). In my country (sweden) the r9 380 is going for about 279$ while the gtx 970 is for 267$. Now the reason that i was first looking at the msi r9 gpu is because that im really picky when its comes to the look of the pc and im going for an blue/white color scheme so ive thinking of painting the red parts to blue. Thats until i saw the price of the 970. Now the most websites says that the 970 beats the 380 but i would also like to know if its possible to remove the red parts in the Asus GeForce GTX 970 turbo so i can paint them blue. And last but not least if there is anything else i need to know please tell me. (btw i have an i5-4460 cpu https://pcpartpicker.com/product/F63RsY/intel-cpu-bx80646i54460 and an corsair 550vs psu https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xNJwrH/corsair-power-supply-cp9020050ww )

Solution
A 970 is vastly superior in performance compared to a 380-considering its cheaper as well I'd say go for it! As far as "modding"/painting goes I've personally never tried it but I'm sure someone here will chime in.
