Hi All,

sorry to be a pain

but I have a MSI R9 390 and my new SUHD TV

I want it to run at 4096x2160 @ 50-60hz but obviously this card is HDMI 1.4a and only allows them resolutions at 24-30hz

Am i right in thinking if i get a display port to HDMI -- Connect display from graphics card and hdmi to tv this will allow me to achieve the 60hz ? or even 50

thanks in advance all

Solution
Right after 2 hours of playing around and not getting the CLUB3D CAC-1070 to work, I found it has been a driver issue so i downloaded the Crimson 19.8.3 and it works 4K at 60HZ

So all in all : R9 390 + CLUB3D CAC-1070 + HDMI 2.0 cable + SAMSUNG ue49ks7500 = 4096x2160 @ 60hz officially .

Thanks all and i hope this works for others.

In theory it will work. I haven't done any research into the subject since I bought my Nvidia cards, but when I had the 290X (same issue, HDMI 1.4) there weren't any adapters available where you could actually do 4k @60hz, you need an active adapter from what I remember, it's not as simple as just using a regular adapter, or maybe between then and now, AMD has made it possible to do with a regular adapter, that should be how it is, but like I said, haven't researched it in a while. Keep us posted, it will be good to know if we can use those older cards for 4k, if not for gaming, for display/BLURAY etc.

Thanks for the quick responses! my theory was based on my DVI-D to display port on my 144hz monitor but the hiccup i see is not the display port connection but is the other end of that cable the hdmi.

I am just so confused in where the display port is capable of 144hz but will a hdmi 2.0 work as suggested above in the adaptor to the TV.

Ps when connected the TV automatically says recommended resolution but within AMD settings it says TV is capable of 75z. Its SAMSUNG UE49KS7500

Thanks again all.

Looks like someone has managed to achieve the 60hz at that resolution using a " Club3D Displayport 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 UHD Active Adapter, CAC-1070 (UHD Active Adapter)" on amazon and best thing yet they done it on an R9 390

thanks all ... will let you know once I receive it.
