Hey again folks. I need to upgrade my r9 270x 2gb with a new card. So to go with r9 390 or gtx970? I want to play latest games at 1080p with high settings. Tnx

Also i have Fx8350 CPU

R9 390 is better value. It performs very similar to a GTX 970 but you get more than double the usable VRAM (which you can already use even in current titles - I've had 4.5GB in use numerous times at 1200p). Does use a lot more power though, which is something to keep in mind, and requires a quality 550W+ PSU. If you need to upgrade your PSU to use the 390, I'd go for GTX970 to be sure.

Since you already have an AMD card and the 390 is a better long term value with the more VRAM, I would second the opinion of nitrium and get the 390. While the cards actually trade blows based on the games at 1080p, the gap widens in favor of the 390 at higher AA and resolutions.

Those Pascal boards won't be remotely price competitive with the current gen imo, given that HBM is still very expensive. I guess they will likely do lower-end (i.e. affordable) boards (maybe not based on Pascal though) with GDDR5X, but you can bet you won't see those until the end of the year.
