R9 390 for 4K gaming

Hello guys i was curious if the R9 390 will run 4k sjnce it has 8 GB of video memory? I am debating between it and the gtx 970 but is like to have extra vran but im afriad to get an amd card cuz the issues people have.

Neither. they are great at 1080, some game at 1440, very few on 4k.

If you can hold off I would wait for the R9 400 series. AMD just finished taping off the chip. So it can't be too far away from production. Most likely 4 months or less.

It should offer a significant speed increase.

390 for 4k is not enough dual 390's yes. The issues are usually black screen and flickering on some games.But new driver fixed that.I put one on my wifes rig its performing a bit better than 970 in most games. Make sure you have a strong psu and if you have a 600w psu make sure its gold certified or it will start to shut down if you go with the 390.Personally i liked nvidia cards for their efficiency and more optimized titles but usually the gameworks titles even with 980 its had to maintain a steady 60 and i mostly disable gameworks anyways.Also with nvidia playing dirty with performance degradation on drivers to promote 900 series and the 3.5 gb fiasco with the 970 i won't buy their products again till they fix their products. Id say if you don't care about efficiency and just raw power go for 390 since the 970 will tank at 1400p.

The new AMD Radeon Software is awesome also. Major improvement over catalyst control center. The UI is really good and it launches instantly. AMD has done an amazing job.

if you intend on 4k gaming with the 390 you will have to make sure that the 4k monitor you are connecting has displayport or dvi connection. 4k over hdmi will result in 30hz since no amd cards have hdmi 2.0 spec.

Yeah I use hdmi but could do DVI. I use DSR on a 1080p monitor. And I just read that and amd said it will be fixed Monday

It has been solved, just like the problem with previous driver for Nvidia, which [watch your language] up people's computers with Nvidia cards installed. So not lookin good with Nvidia either. Look here:
