Hello, I am having trouble with the rsi r9 390 gpu. What happens that when under stress it 'freezes', the screen holds and and the only thing I can do is reset the pc, and if I turn it back on too quickly, I get the no GPU detect signal from the motherboard.

I used afterburner to set all the sliders to the left except fans, which I set to max. I have a temp in the low 30s when idle, and high 40's low 50s shortly before it freezes. Any suggestions please?

I use a 700w cooler master psu and a 990fxa mb with 16gbram, and 8core cpu at 4.40 ghz if that helps.

Solution
Memtest returns no problems with RAM. After looking through this site concerning my MB and the freezing problem, I used the power options to lower the max power to the CPU to see if it would. I managed to play TW:Warhammer for 3 hours on the HD5700 for three hours without issue. I'm too tired now to try it with the R9 390. I will get back to you with what happened tomorrow.
Your Coolermaster PSU is probably not able to hold up its end of the log. If it is from their "Elite" or "Extreme" lines in particular, it is almost certainly overrated near-junk. It probably won't kill your system like real junk, but it may not be able to power it either. A quality 650W PSU would be sufficient. Make sure it gets good airflow through it (e.g. if bottom-mounted, it isn't muffled by carpet).

Yes. My system pulls about 400w peak under load. Your fx8xxx will add another 40w to that. So lets say 450w worst case. Hence a quality 600-650 psu is fine. But your psu although rated 700 peak, may deliver much less continuous, and suffer when suddenly loaded.

You will not make a bad choice by doing that, but you may not necessarily make the best choice, especially if you are looking for the best deal. If you do a little additional research on Tier 1-2 models, you'll likely make your best choice out of what is available to you.

Okay, so I brought evga GQ 850w, having fitted, I hoped for the best and gave it a go. No luck, it still freezes. Any other ideas? Could it be faulty? A new case to better cool it?
