Well I have done some research of the R9 390 and the GTX 970. I have all of my parts except for the graphics card, I bought a 750W because why not! I've been always sticking with buying a GTX 970 but I'm just wondering about ur opinions. Oh and I'm planning on doing 1080p gaming

Well I checked all your replies, they are all great. I live in Canada so a R9 390 is 500 bux and GTX 970 is 520 bux sucks aye?!?! from looking at your reviews I guess going for the R9 390 since I have 750 watt will be a great idea plus 4690k I guess I'm set you can go against me decision if you want I would love to hear more replies!

(Keep in mind I bought all the parts except for the graphics card)

They're about the same performance wise. You should decide based on the games you intend to play and the features offered by one card over the other. For example, if it were me, I would want the GTX 970 so that I would be able to turn on the Nvidia-exclusive PhysX FLEX weapon debris effects in Fallout 4.

There is two offers for both of them and I find them very appealing ones, the 970 comes with Tom Clancy's the division, while the R9 390 comes with hitman, and I agree with you that buying a gtx 970 is always a good choice, but with the current prices and the extra Vram, I would go for the r9 390 nitro in case you wanted to get higher resolutions in the future as the R9 390 will be a safer choice, and regardless of your choice one thing is certain which is you will have an astonishing gaming experience, good luck mate :)

Actually no, if you have contributed enough then you are given the power to pick and unpick best solutions. Just don't abuse it, I never had, never did, never will. It's just the thread is going nowhere and the best answer is going for the less expensive

No SeroChan you are wrong, you can't pick solutions on current threads, they have to be dead threads, like 2 months old. There is another thread listing the rules, I have the ability to select solutions too, and you are abusing it

Holy shet, chill out, this is the first time I've ever done it. I'm sorry, go ahead, keep the thread going for no reason. I was gonna unselect the best answer but somebody else did it. Chill out

EDIT1 : Also thanks for pointing out there's a thread for these kind of "rules", could you please link it for me?

We try to let the OP choose the Best Answer, mainly because it's their call. They may not agree with someone else's opinion. But the biggest reason is that a thread quickly loses interest after a Best Answer is chosen, so the OP needs to make that decision when they are ready to move on.

Simply selecting "get the cheapest" ignores so many other aspects of video card characteristics. I listed one, unique features that one card has and another doesn't. Power consumption, overclocking, game compatibility, memory amounts, driver support, heat, noise, the list is pretty long and a simple price-performance consideration ignores so much. Ultimately, it's everything else about a card that will lead to overall satisfaction with the purchase. I would argue just as much, or even more than how many FPS it puts out for what price.

As someone who was asking this same question not long ago, I understand the internal conflict. I was holding fast to the 970 for a long time but I ended up with an MSI R9 390. I must say, I am happy with my choice. the card runs hot, idle around 140F, but it performs very well and I got a decent overclock out of it at 1160Mhz. What it eventually comes down to is two questions. 1. are temps an issue? If you have a small case with little airflow and a hot room, get a nvidia card. If you have good airflow, you can get either one. 2. will you ever game above 1080p? If so the 390 is more future proof. If not, the 970 is your sweet spot. I aspire to one day rise above 1080p, thus I got the 390. either choice will be wonderful.
