I dont have a card at the minute and im playing h1z1 with onboard on the i5 6600k its playable but soon as it turns night time on h1z1 i have to wait it out untill day time again as my screen is full of red pixels

Do i wait for the rx480 to come out or should i just buy the r9 390 now or in a month or so if there is going to be a price drop on the r9 390 i dont mind waiting it out.

Why is the rx480 so cheap?

Solution
Wait a couple weeks for the 480. It should beat the 390x. And NVidia cards don't drop in price when they release their next generation cards jd. Also, the reference card MSRP is $450, not $400.

I personally wouldn't even bother with AMD since those cards run much hotter than Nvidia (I've had both), which will make your overall temps higher in your case. I prefer Nvidia GPUs because the use less watts (typically) and create less heat because they are more efficient cards. Looking at current benchmarks, the Fury and Fury X (current flagships of AMD) come nowhere even close to the performance of the GTX 1080 and 1070. The Titan X, 980ti, and 980 all about equal to the Fury and Fury X, but typically win out by a slight margin in most games.
To answer in a roundabout way, GPU prices are going to fall because Nvidia is releasing major GPUs for very low prices. This in turn drives prices of all GPUs down across the board. As to why the 480 will be so cheap, I have not looked into that since I don't use AMD GPUs anymore. However, depending on the price, you might just wait and go for the GTX 1070 or any of the partner versions of that card once available. It is going to start at the highly suggested price of $399 for the reference card from Nvidia. Partner cards will probably be a tad more due to better coolers and higher stock clocks, but they will perform better.

There has been lots of talk about previous gen cards going down in price upon release of partner cards. If they don't then you can always pick up a used one for drastically cheaper than if you bought it new. If you do that, then go through Amazon.com since they will more than likely have return/replacement policies in place. But, you can't even argue against the drops in prices because you never know until everything is out on the market. Not to mention, prices have dropped already for partner cards because EVGA 980ti and 980 cards have already dropped in price by at least $200, if not more. You are right in regards to the Titan cards. For some reason people will still pay $1k+ for those and they have just as good of performance as their "lesser" forms. For example on prices, the 980ti versions were about $600-$900 and are now only about $500-$700 for new. If you get used 980ti classifies, you can get them as low as $485ish.
