[SOLVED] R9 3900x, which high end ram to buy?

So I'm thinking about building a pc later this year, I'll definitely wait for the 4k launch and see what happens.

There's a lot of different information about which ram is the best for the 3900x, but what's the best ram and does it even make a difference?

I've been considdering Corsair Dominator Platinum, but they are too big for the Noctua NH-d15 cooler.

Then I got recommended Corsair vengeance LPX, but apparently they don't work too well with Ryzen (even though it's recommended at a lot of websites lol).

So which ram does work well with Ryzen and is still as good as these two ram sticks, or better for that matter?

Solution
Afaik, best stock RAM you can get for Ryzen is G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3800C14 kit, but rare and expensive, otherwise you can for Neo 3600C16 kit.
If money isn't issue then go for the new G.Skill Trident Royal 4000C15 kit, I don't think it's design for Ryzen but you should be able to run 3800 12-12-12-28 easily with bit of voltage.

Another slightly cheaper option might be G.Skill Trident Z 4133C19 kit(F4-4133C19D-16GTZKWC ), again it's not designed for Ryzen but it's Samsung B-Die with A0 PCB so it can do really tight timings. My friend could run his at 4000 12-12-12-28 @ ~1.80v.

Just today I saw someone have a Ryzen paired with Corsair LPX and a host of issues.

I wouldn't recommend them in the slightest.

Fair enough.
I don't care about the looks at all to be honest, do you by any chance know which TridentZ ram is then best performance wise if I don't care about looks?
or just ram in general. :)

Not looking good for the Corsair Vengeance LPX ram by looking at the comments there and what I've seen from other places.
Guess I can't use a big air cooler as the only good low profile ram is the Corsair Vengeance LPX which apparently isn't great for Ryzen products.
An aio is apparently needed to have both a good cpu cooler and good ram at the same time.
What a shame. :I

None of the above.

Ryzen 2000 was effectively capped by Infinity Fabric at 3466MHz, making 3200MHz the sweet spot for those cpus. When Ryzen 3000 hit, that cap was raised to 3733MHz , making 3600MHz the sweet spot.
I'll definitely wait for the 4k launch and see what happens.

Nobody knows exactly what's going to happen with the 'sweet spot', for all we know it could be 4100MHz or 4400MHz, making any of the above choices moot with a 4000 series cpu. If you are going to wait on those cpus, might as well wait on them fully, because guessing games or pre-planning figures is a futile gesture atm.

My friend could run his at 4000 12-12-12-28 @ ~1.80v.
Not for long he won't. At that voltage it won't be long before he either burns up the ram, or more likely the memory controller in the cpu. DDR4 is designed to run 1.2v-1.5v.
1.5v is the absolute max we allow for XMP certifications. However, good DDR4 memory will run at 1.35v up to 3200. Technically, no “safe” (guaranteed) OC over-voltage but 1.35v or lower is best.”

im actually planning on buying this CPU as soon as the motherboards come back in stock, and i saw the G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz model come a lot both in recommendations and in benchmarks.
can;t say from exp, but those are the ones i'll buy.
