Okay so I am currently in a graphics card dilemma. My old GTX 970 gave out the other day, so I'm currently running a Geforce 7300Le (trust me, it sucks) and am looking for a new graphics card. I am tossing up between just getting another 970, a 390x, 980 or a Fury. Here the links and prices:

R9 390x

970

980

Fury

Now I'm only running a 1080p 60HZ monitor, and don't see myself upgrading in the near future. I have an Antec TP 550 watt power supply but I've read on multiple reviews that the 390x and Fury can be run on a decent 550 watt (power supply upgrade in the near future though I hope). Now if I got either the 970 or 390x, I would be able to finally get a ssd (still running good old HDD), or I could get the Fury or 980 but no ssd. My budget is 700$ (AUD). As a side note I also saw the 1070 is out (no stock though) priced around 770$ annoyingly ever so slightly out of my budget, so I could possibly wait a month or two and save up more dosh for that. But then again Battlefield 4 is calling... Dunno if I can wait that long lol. So what do you guys think is my best option?
Cheers for any help you can give me

I can neither confirm nor deny it will "LAST YOU A LONG TIME". Seems short sighted, like picking the username WiiU. We don't know what will be released in the coming E3, or in a subsequent E3 2017. What we do know is the 1070 CANNOT max games at 4k. Games and VR will only get more detailed, not because of artist work, but because computers are coded to fill in detail, such as add tree branches, make leaves blow in the wind, more realistic lighting. So toss the previous advice next to last years card. Also, note I didn't give you advice, I just discredited other's prophecy.

A GTX980 for $375.
If you are stuck with AU pricing, I'm sorry.

Given the situation, I'd say definitely go with the 390x. It's a better card with more memory. Don't buy a reference cooler version though.

And...It's cheaper, helping you upgrade if you need, sooner

The 390X is slightly slower than the GTX 980 at lower resolutions. Not enough to justify $120 though. But I wouldn't run a 390X on a 550w power supply.

The 980 Ti is quite a bit faster than a 390X and still uses less power. I max everything at 1440p with my 980 Ti.
