How powerful do you think the r9 3xx series will be going by the 39x vs 29x?

I have a HD7850 right now and decided to upgrade. It's going to be either gtx 970 now or 390x/390 when it comes out but I can't decide if it's going to worth the wait for the 3xx series.

I'm using a 1080p monitor right now which is a Dell IPS which I'll keep it until it dies on me. But I'm totally open to things like Nvidia's downscaling technology. Probably AMD will have that feature too? It might be a deciding factor after all.

I would think the 390 is going to be a lot more expensive than the GTX 970 as it's intended to compete with the upcoming Nvidia flagship video card and AMD haven't decided yet on the final clockspeeds of the 380 so we're not sure if it's going to compete with the GTX 970 or 980.

I can see the R9 300 series matching the Nvidia equivalent at 1080p but surpassing them at higher resolutions and in multiple monitor setups, I haven't got a clue about the features the R9 300 series will have other than stacked memory, I'm sure AMD are paying close attention to what Nvidia have done with the 900 series though and they'll have really similar features at the very least.

So it's safe to say new AMD series will have upscaling? If not is it possible to make it manually with 3rd party software -which will probably be more performance dependent.

Well, i think it will be like last gen, and i think they will bring the 380x to smash the 970 and the 390 to beat the 980 and then nvidia will bring out the beautifully overpriced 980ti and amd will have no response and let them have it, and not even care lol
