R9 Fury or 390x for 1440p?

I mostly play black ops 3, fallout 4 and gta 5.

get the fury if you have the budget. it's all about the budget.

Well, the fury is better, but it sort of depends on the prices for the two cards you are considering, as a 390X should be ample power as well.

use the 290x as relative performance. the fury should be 15% to 20% faster when OC'd.

Also some fury cards can unlock to be partial of full fury X cards. not recommend unless you know what you are doing, but it is always nice to have that ace in ones pocket.
