Should I go for R9 FURY X or RX 480 8GB variant? In my country, the prices of both the cards are almost the same with a difference of like $15. The 4GB VRAM of R9 Fury is a limiting factor but the its HBM card and has got good memory management so I guess it won't be a problem in running AAA titles at 1080p ultra 60fps, but its power consumption is really really huge and no way I'm even thinking to crossfire it coz the power consumption and heat would be damn too much. I'm really confused now. Help me out here.
I'm bit inclined to buying Fury X but first wanna get you guys' opinions on this.
PS- I need future-proofing(like for 2-3 yrs) so need opinions on that basis.

Rest of the specs:
i5 6500@3.2Ghz
8gb DDR4@2133Mhz
Giga H110M
Corsair CX 750W PSU

I hope I won't get any bottlenecking from either of the cards in these specs?

Solution
If, as you say, both cards are priced the same in your country then, performance wise, the R9 Fury X is a better deal. Yes, power consumption and heat output will be greater but this card doesn't get to a point wich isnt manageable.

i recommend you watching this video. It shows that even a normal fury (the one that is air cooled) doesn't fall that much behind the GTX 1070 and can even outperform it in some games, and that's only at stock setings!

There is no denial that the new APIs (DX12 and Vulkan) tend to favor the "Red Team"; As more and more games are being released with DX12 support, cards like the R9 Fury will still give rock solid performance in the years to come (2-3 or even more years i would say) without paying too...
The Fury X is the better deal, as long as the higher power consumption (and the liquid cooling) isn't a big issue for your build.

Waiting for the Vega cards is definitely a viable option too, but that depends on your plans. Also we don't know exactly when they'll arrive.

I agree when if comes to performance, the fury will be better. However the size, heat generated and power consumption doesn't justify the performance. Unless you have a full atx case with positive/negative air flow, i'd go with the rx 480. That being said, I wouldn't recommend the fury to the average gamer. Vega will be out soon, so i'd hold off until benchmarks have been documented.
