Monitor 4k samsung free sync

I am currently using a gtx 980 I play battlefield 4 at 4k runs 30-80 fps on my settings. Card died. Looking for a replacement with a fury x or 1070. I know the 1070 is faster but my monitor has free sync built in. I will be playing at 4k both cards will get me around 30-100 depending on settings is it work going with the fury x for free sync? Since I will be playing in lower then 75 Fram rates and it tears badly

Note I am a nvidia fan boy. But if free sync makes the difference I want it. Card is also 100$ cheaper.

My last amd card was a 4870x2 nightmare

The Fury X has the advantage of being compatible with FreeSync, but might not be the best choice for a 4K card due to VRAM limitations, it only has 4GB due to the limitations of the first generation HBM. The 1070 might be a better option for 4K due to more VRAM and usually being the faster card of the two, but you'd have to deal with tearing as you don't have a Gsync monitor. I guess it comes down to what's more important to you, performance or eliminating screen tearing. I'd personally deal with the tearing, but it's up to you. It's too bad AMD hasn't released anything aside from the Fury X in the GTX 1070 performance bracket.

Price.

I agree. I only play battlefield 4. Even on higher 4k settings I never hit over 3.2gb used. For what I am doing I do not think 4gb will be a issue.

Hell. I came from 2 gtx 970's in sli with a 144hz monitor 1080p. To 60hz 4k. The tearing is making me sick.

I think fast sync is only available on the 10 series cards. In any case, fast sync wouldn't be good for the OP since he's running 4K and won't be able to get really high framerates on either card at that resolution. Fast Sync can cause problems if you can't hold a very high framerate eg. 100+ FPS.

I thought price wasn't a concern for nVidia fanboys... Just kidding.

would you consider selling your screen and go for 1070 + 1440p/144Hz?

fast sync already available on maxwell based card. one of his main concerned was screen tearing. and fast sync will fix that without vsync input lag.

I am not willing to sell my monitor I paid $299 for it great price.

As for fast sync I have had no luck with it. As stated before my fps are 30-80 mostly at 50-60 I hear the sweet spot for free sync is 40-75 so I will fall in there.

Also please note that fast sync doesn't matter anymore since the 980 is dead lol.

Give it a week and the computer will burst into flames and I will be back at step one.

that gigabyte motherboard is fireproofed lol but I cannot say the same thing about that FuryX

Everything that I touch goes to crap trust me. I smoked a 8370 a month ago.

My new Fury X comes tomorrow before Noon according to FedEx. So in real life that means it will come in 2 weeks after 3pm.

I have read many review about the fury x and the 1070. I will only be gaming in 4k in battlefield. One of my friends has a GTX 1070 EVGA SC. I am going to perform some real world benchmarks and see for myself.

I do like the thermals that I see on the Fury X though. Most people never hit over 50C my 980 used to hit 69-74 with a hg10 and a H60 on it.

Put the fury x in. I have to say I am impressed at least in battlefield 4 4k Settings. Freesync works much better then I thought it would.
