DUH, manufacturers!

I need a chair that can recline only the back section, plus tilt lock the part your butt sits on (aka tilt lock or rocking lock) and raise/lower height. Basically what a lot of $109 racer chairs do (such as this one from newegg
Homall Racing Style Ergonomic Computer Gaming Chair with High-Back Swivel PU Leather, Seat Height Adjustable, and Lumbar & Head Support

https://www.newegg.com/p/358-003X-0...VCdbACh2LdQVsEAkYDSABEgJ2P_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But without some of the features these race chairs have:

I need the headrest area to not have any plastic (because when reclined, head might be lower and then on the stupid pointless hard plastic area, and the pillows I hate - I don't need my head pushed forward at all by a pillow and I need the chair to also not already have a headrest area that is curved/pushed out farther than the back area even without the pillow (If anything I want the headrest to be farther back than the back section). what I mean is, side view of the chair, the head area should not be forward of the back rest area - it should be all straight, most race chairs aren't. Some don't have the forward headrest hat bad like the secret labs omega but I'm not really trying to spend $375 on a chair, more like $200, what I'm asking for could be sold for just $109 but they just don't make them or easy to find.

I do not want the back area to have the bucket racecar lips along the sides,
Also same for the butt area, don't want the bucket lips on the sides of thighs.
I might have to actually get something like the omega and cut it open and hacksaw the frame to remove these restricting racecar lips from the sides.
I play guitar and keyboards and have a swivel workstation and I can't have those stupid bucket seat sides, or on the seat part so I can't put my thigh over the edge of the chair and play a keyboard on a side desk because of it.

These race chairs also don't seem as padded as even the $100 chairs like this one I bought a year ago like this:
BestEquip Executive Office Chair with Footrest PU Leather High-Back Reclining Office Chair Adjustable Reclining Computer Chair Napping Armchair Managerial Swivel Office Chair with Foot Stool
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Office-C...ial-Foot-Reclining-Swivel-High-Back/356222228

but after buying something like the one above, I concluded I want something that also has the tilt lock which the one linked above doesn't. (they all don't in that category even though for the same price you can get a racer type but it has the bucket sides and plastic/forward pushing headrest is all I'm saying).

The leg rest is useless on this chair also BTW, unless maybe full reclined but I don't recline much often - if using leg rest while not reclined, it does the opposite of what tilt/rocker lock does and is very uncomfortable it basically tilts you forward and is worse than it sounds.

I don't need the chair to have a leg rest. I built a custom desk and will add my own legrest(s). I don't even need the chair to have arm rests because the desk is horseshoe shaped and I use the horseshoe part of the desk as arms rests works great.

I need it not leather also but luckily there are so many that aren't but I haven't found what I'm looking for still.

All I'm saying is I simply only need the features of a $109 racer (reclines, raises/lowers, and has tilt lock aka rocking lock which is often shown by the big knob dial under the seat) but I want these features in an executive style chair (heavy padded and no bucket lips or forward pushing headrest).

SO stupid that these manufacturers aren't offering this for some reason. I've searched for hours and hours.

If I have to buy a $375 secret labs omega and hacksaw the racecar edges off and sew it up I might, but the headrest also still seems like it might be too forward facing but even if not I don't think I should have to destroy a seat and then hope stitching it back up with 50lb braided kevlar fishing line (thin but strong) is going to hold it from turning into a POS.

I doubt anyone here will have a solution but figured I'd ask anyway. thanks.

Ooook, after hours of searching, I found some.

But it looks like I have to settle for one a fabric one, but would rather a fake leather. But at least the cheap PU (fake) leather ones are not durable (in 1 year the PU leather one I have is peeling pretty bad and I don't wear jeans or anything on it) but there is very good quality PU leather out there (like tesla seats).
Some might be titled as leather but not actually leather and I might try to get a company email contact to confirm, because I prefer the PU leather (even if it peels and have to buy another later) than the fabric but will get fabric if must.

But anyway here is a list I made after searching ALL of walmart's chairs for $80-$222 that have the features I want. I chose walmart because if it's uncomfortable, I can just bring it to any walmart for a full refund. Ebay also has some with free returns but it's harder to search ebay (lots of duplicate posts and just usually a mess of stuff to search through mis-categorized etc, and it's just as easy to not have to re package it perfectly and wait for return delivery and the refund as it is to just bring it to a walmart, but I'll probably get it right the first time without needing a return.

I didn't really narrow these down yet, and some may be leather but I don't buy leather but hopefully this helps anyone else wanting the same criteria in a chair.

Some have somewhat bucket lips, some are mid back which I don't want, but basically I'l probably get the black fabric high back with no arms and no bucket on back sides.

^ back reclines? likely not getting, I don't like the 'waterfall' seat edge under knees, this is why I want tilt on knees which current seat doesn't have, I might actually add padding under knee area PLUS the tilt locked back a bit, but will see how just tilt lock goes.

i think this is the best one. will see, just ordered it:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/High-Back-Multi-Function-Ergonomic-Chair/55145507
Work Smart by Office Star ProductsModel: 2907-231Walmart # 556839766

good reviews, thick padding, can adjust basically any way I described plus seat slides I think.

If for some reason i dislike it, I'll get probably one of these three instead: but it should be great.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CHAIR!

I HAVE THIS CHAIR!

ITS THE WORST CHAIR IVE EVER USED! DO NOT BUY IT!

Every bolt in the chair comes loose. Arm rests, and even the seat. So you have to tighten them every month or 2. It starts loudly squeeking after about 1 month or so (I fixed this using beard oil on the parts that connect the back to the seat, lol) But the chair is such low quality, and the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIR I have ever used.

Theres barely any padding on the seat its like your sitting on a hard wooden bench with a blanket on it. It says 300lb limit, Im 280, 6'4, and the chair is small, and POORLY built.

yea those $100 range 'racing' chairs I had one and couldn't deal with the confining side lips bucket seat stuff. Threadlocker or even super glue on the screws might stop them from coming out but maybe it's not just that for you.

anyway, this one I just received is no good unfortunately,
https://www.walmart.com/ip/High-Bac...ickid=xery67zeIxyOTv1wUx0Mo38WUknWf839uVYkTY0

the lumbar is too big, it's as if the back of the seat might as well only be about 10" high because the lower portion (lumbar) sticks out so much that in order to rest your head you have to tilt your neck back way too far. I was thinking about stitching in some couch foam or memory foam and covering it with fabric in order to build-up the higher back areas but I'm not about to modify it like that. Also, the seat doesn't slide (doesn't say it does) but if it did, it would be more comfortable to adjust that between reclining and non reclining.
The tilt lock works good and the padding is nice and thick but I'm returning this chair for another.
Also doesn't recline enough, I don't need extreme reclining but it's about 3 clicks less that what I would consider a good full recline.

I just bought this one,
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Flash-Fu...ickid=xery67zeIxyOTv1wUx0Mo38WUknWf8yduVYkTY0

hopefully it's all good and not too much of a curved (lumbar) back, will see how it feels and how far it reclines and if think it's worth keeping I may stitch in padding to the headrest of lumbar is too much (stitch because just those elastic band headrests shift around too much and I don't need no BS like that always trying to adjust it perfect, just stitch it in place).

If this second one doesn't work out, there's a couple others I linked with all the tilt lock and recline features I want but they also have chair slide if that becomes a deciding factor with how this second one feels.

well, this second one I just bought also is as if the backrest should only be about a foot tall (actually a bit more than that), because to lean back enough to put your head on the headrest is extremely unnatural and like looking at the ceiling even if not reclined much - if I kept it I would have to stitch in about 8" thickness of headrest padding just like the other one I just bought.

Other than that, it's a decent chair, the tilt lock (raises knees up) doesn't seem as far as the other one I bought, and I prefer it to go as far as possible but it's still good and much better than no tilt lock (again, this is the main reason I switched from my current chair because it had no tilt knee). the fabric is pretty cheap it's basically like netted basketball shorts material overlayed over regular padding, it's not grey and black like the photo, all black but ok with that.

will try this one more time with the other options linked, hopefully 3rd time's a charm, if not, I may further test the 3 against each other to see which I prefer (right now I'm only briefly testing them so they don't get dirty or anything, and if I need to stitch in a headrest for a final product that's ok. I want comfort perfection if you can' t tell.

EDIT: F this... I'm finding with these chair that DO have tilt lock, the part you sit on doesn't span out far enough towards the knees, I'm not even very tall but when reclining, the knees go out a bit and these chairs are not that deep. Some have seat slider (and tilt lock and recline) and maybe sliding the seat out helps but I think the best route might be to just open up the chair I currently have and make it permanently with a tilt lock affect by taking the seat part down the the plywood, then adding in padding to make it thicker under the knees. Then it should be fine because this chair's butt section is deeper than the others I just bought. And other than that, it's a great chair (back headrest feels good, reclines fully. Basically I'll build a sort of plywood ramp over the existing plywood bottom and then foam it and upholstery it.
