The thought of a Gnomish Monk amuses me.

Ranger Thief-any race, dumb...basically the ranger is a fighter/thief.
Sorcerer/Wizard-any race, same smell here. Paladin with any class, then yer
no longer a Paladin. the multi-classing under the current ruleset is
suspect, at best. and i'm entitled to my opinion, but mostly the
multiclassing, is for power gaming and not heavily into role playing.

I disagree. I see a stealth and entry specialist that is equally at
home in an urban setting as in the woods. Going Rgr/Rog instead of
F/Rog gets you not quite as good combat, but in the stealth department
that's made up for by Trackless Step, and I think dual-wield gets you an
extra sneak attack when someone is flat-footed. And if you're going
straight ranger, you don't have OpenLocks or DisableTrap as class skills
- highly necessary for an entry specialist. I think this is a highly
RP-able combo.

I totally agree with you here.

But again, I disagree with you here. Multi-classing in 3E D&D as well
the 3E variant used for NWN is a ton cleaner than it was in previous
incarnations. NWN (the official campaign & expansions anyway) is also
set in the Forgotten Realms. In the FR Sourcebook, it mentions about a
dozen paladin orders that can (and are even encouraged) to multiclass.

Examples: Azuth's paladins tend to get a few Paladin levels, and then
progress soley as Wizards. Helm and Moradin Paladins multiclass freely
as Fighters and/or Clerics. Paladins of the halfing diety Yondalla
multiclass freely as Monks (!).

Then again, I admit some bias to 3E as I was fortunate enough to have
been in one of the playtest groups and so had some (admittedly small,
but present) amount of input to the creation process.

Are you saying being a magic user is stupid, or multiclassing with both?

Ah, good. Otherwise I'd have to zap you with magic missile. 😉

Although multiclassing those two would be *very* strange, I have to say.

Dwarf Monk.
or Elf Monk, though elf is slightly easier to wrap my head around if i think of
it more in the Western-monk manner.

I am currently playing a half orc sorcerer and a gnome barbarian in seperate
games. The gnome barbarian is doing surprisingly well!
