Hi all, I'm pretty new to pc and networking stuff and I have a few questions regarding setting up a race sim setup with a pc in another room.

I have a TV in my living room that i want to have my racing things displayed on, with the seats and everything also put in the living room, but my pc is located in my office which I do not want to move anywhere else. How would I connect my steering wheel and display - to my pc if its in the office.
I've heard that theres such things as usb over ethernet, hdmi over ethernet, ethernet hubs but I'm confused as to how they work - what could I do to make this setup possible?

Solution
The amount of data bandwidth you need for the display is the problem. Your best option if you can get it run is to use actual HDMI cables but the distance it can go is very limited.

A HDMI cable is actually extremely high bandwidth compared to ethernet cables. HDMI 2.1 can do 48gbps. Now you don't actually need that much if you run lower resolution. Still a 1080 at 30 frames is still over 1gbit and you must still pass the audio. In addition you might start to see some delay or artifacts on long cable runs.

There really is not way to do this and keep good video.

In addition I’d you need HDMI 2.1 the last I read is it is recommended to keep under 5m whereas lower versions were usually ok up to 10m.

I’m not sure there is a way of doing this. I looked for a solution and could not find one, I even looked at if a case existed where it had a base station with all connections and you could swap the pc between stations, but there was nothing.

The other consideration with any type of adapter is input or display lag, that’s a no no for a race sim.

I didn’t find a solution, it’s a contributing reason why I have a Series X in the living room and the pc in my office/spare room. I will occasionally move the pc to the living room but the rest of the time a use the Series X.
