[SOLVED] Rack server with separate Storage server or in built storage without separate Storage server

Dear all,
we have blade servers with SAN switch and with Storage server. right now we want optimize our DC environment by replacing our Blade servers with Rack servers. and i want to know whether we can go by Rack servers with separate storage servers or Rack servers with hdds.. and without separate storage servers

It depends. Does the storage need to avilable to multiple servers? The advantage of the blade chassis with SAN, is the storage can be available to multiple blades.
The typical implementation would be to use VMs for many things any more. Although I believe that a bare metal primary DC is the better implementation.
Obviously internal HDDs are lost if the server chassis is unavailable.
When you say "separate storage servers" are you thinking rack mount RAID controller? Rack mount NAS? or server chassis dedicated to storage?
