After reading the GTX 260/280 review, I am hoping ATI/AMD will do a little better.

If anything, the noise level is unreal according to the review FTL.

For some reason Tom's is sticking with the 480SP theory, but 800 it is, and possibly more for redundancy.

Its a shame AMD could not "barrow" some of the tech used in ATI's video cards for its CPU's... I wouldn't mind seeing an 800 Core AMD CPU lol

I know the tech is totally 10,000% different but sometimes its fun to dream :)

With the AMD 790FX motherboard chipset you can have 4 of them (Radeon 4850 or even the 4870) in Crossfire.
Whoa maybe the Spider system and the upcoming 750 Southbridge Mainboards will make up for the Phenom's lackluster speed.
Put Deneb (or even the upcoming 95 watt Phenom X4 9850) in place of the current Phenoms, with the AM3+ mobos (early 2009) and AMD will give Intel some great competition for a while until Nehalem kicks in (at the end of 2009).

One would pair a Radeon 9800XT with GeForce 9800GTX to make a duo.

I am using a Antec 430W PSU fine. Hope ATI would release a 4830 that requires less power.

.... dumb dumb dumb. -- Nvidia prevails again = lower priced cards for ATI, but with the range of price + performance Nvidia gives out, who needs ATI?.... 4870 better be a LOT better, for ATI's sake... I love Nvidia, but I love cheap technology wayyy more -- COME ON ATI STEP IT UP!

The 4850/4870 is looking MUCH better than these for a price performance ratio perspective. what the hell are you talking about? These two nvidia cards are ridiculously expensive, people without boatloads of cash can't buy them, who needs nvidia?

2870 is going to be cheaper than even GTX 260. That probably mean that 2870 has less performance than GTX 260. ATI knows benchmarks for 260 and they would not price card the whole $100 cheaper if it had better performance than 260. There are no free meals. So, all in all, I think NVIDIA is performance king again in this generation (for the price of cause).

I don't love Nvidia, sure they deliver FPS but always at the cost of quality. Geforce cards are crap thank you.

What's the performance supposed to be like? The 9800gtx is down to about $199-219 after a rebate and the 8800gts is down to $150-160 after rebate.

I recall the xt2900 something had 320sp's and it still got it's ass kicked by the 8800gtx's 128sp's.

Who needs any of this crap?

I find it amusing that all of a sudden the excellent cards we already have instantly turn to feces upon the release of this other junk.

I am happy with my 2 3870x2 cards and there is no reason for a new card from nvidia or ati. When are people going to stop becoming such market sheep?
