Radeon 6670 Lagging on GTA IV

Okay, I know most of you will say that my GPU is too weak/not good enough to run the game and that my CPU (i3-2120) is also not good enough but I need help to run the game. Everytime I turn the camera with my mouse, it lags and freezes for a few seconds. Can anyone help me with the settings and command lines etc?

Specs:

i3-2120 3.3 GHz
Asus Radeon 6670 GDDR5
8GB RAM
1TB HDD

As you say, that graphics card is not the best. Also as a general rule, GTA 4 was not the best console port also. Did you make sure there were any bottlenecks? Also, did you turn down all the settings to low and see if this still happens?

How do I know if there are any bottlenecks? I think there's a bottleneck somewhere because before it didn't use to lag like this.

I turned everything on low and it still happens.

Please tell whole game settings at resolution.

update drivers to latest. and turn down some graphic details. If playing at 1080p, that video card doesnt cut it at all, turn down resolution.

Well, even at the lowest resolution (800x600 I think) It still lags.

Drivers are updated to the latest and all settings turned down low and it still happens.

Also, I was watching this person's video and he used higher settings with the same card, similar i3 and only 4gb ram?

my friend has hd 6670 and he plays gta 4 at high at 1280*720res easily.

try this:

1)uninstall the drivers and install new one - http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

2)install the gta 4 patch 1.0.4.0(very imp) - http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/GTA_IV_1040_Patch_14;102441

3)keep the settings:

resolution - 1280*720

shadow resolution - low

defination - on

vsync - off

rest everything to high

EDIT: Nevermind, got another 1.0.4.0 patch.

Everytime I double click LaunchGTAIV application, the Rockstar Social thing comes up with three buttons: Play, Play (Offline) and Cancel. I click both play buttons and wait a while and then the rockstar social thing comes up again.

What's going on?

Well patch 1.4 removes social club.

I updated back to the 1.0.7.0 patch and then everything was fine, but every time I turn the camera or turn a vehicle while turning the camera, it lags and sometimes stutters when I drive.

my friend has hd 6670 and he plays gta 4 at high at 1280*720res easily.

That's impossible since the 6670 is no greater than a GTX 650 ( non-Ti ); it still lags considerably when maxed out.

Can you explain that specific problem once more? Check whether it lags when you press any keys on the keyboard then I can help you.
