Radeon 6770 power draw psu ?

Hi
I have a question about radeon 6770 and my PSU. i have Quoltec SilentLine 520W with +3.3v-33A; +5v-33A; +12v-20A; -12v-0.5A and 5Vsb-2.0A, intel i3 540-3.06 ghz, 4gb dd3 ram-2 sticks,1 hdd and thats all. Nothing is overclocked and i dont intend to. Will the radeon run on this PSU normal ? including that he will draw some power from pci slot and from +12v ? cause 12v is oblivously not enought but i am not strong in this energy, power etc things =(

If you know the power usage of the card, in watts, it's very easy to find the amps used. Since you have 20 amps on the +12V rail, you can only use a total of 240 watts, no more. That 240 includes the processor, HDDs, and everything else, leaving you with about 150 watts for the video card.

The basic formula is "Volts*Amperes = watts". If amps is unknown, then, doing basic algebra, you get "Watts/Volts = Amperes".

Edit: the 6770 should work quite well, unless you intend on overclocking or using CrossFire.

great =) and how much power will be left on +12v line ? it wont be at his peak 240 watts? asking i case of safety

or maybe i should go for gts 450 ? and leave the radeon alone ?
i forgot to mention that my PSU has 6 pin connector, dunno if this help

get 6770 OC/GTX 550 Ti OC are good.
GTS 450 slower then GTX 550 Ti

For reference I have the 6750 on an amd system over clocked athlonIIx2 on a antec earthwatts 430 PSU.

I'm nowhere CLOSE to straining my supply.

Your psu is definitely better ; it has more than 24 amps combined on the two rails.
If the op only has one rail with 20A it would be very close and maybe not safe, not sure, no psu expert.

just got an answer from nvidia technical support about gts 450 power needs. The answer was that my PSU is good

6770 uses 2 watts more. lol. Better card though.

my psu may be better but when I check the raw wattage displacement on my system I'm not even CLOSE to it. My system counting my desk lamp and Monitor is in the 200 watt range, measured by the wall.

My guess is the the i3 isn't to far off from my processor and that even under load his whole system won't stress even the 1 20A rail.

Though if he is looking to spend 100$ plus on a video card maybe he should upgrade the PSU. Mine as less than $30 shipped from newegg.

how much power will my 6770 lose ? i was searching for some tests, but didnt found any =(

I wouldn't want that one. Maybe you can oc it to stock level, but there's probably a reason for lowering memory speeds.
I saw others with stock speeds even cheaper than the Asus.
Where do you buy from ? ( if you can provide a link )
