Tigerdirect currently has the powercolor hd7770 card for $75.00 with free shipping. Im going to be building a pc soon and im looking to spend no more than $500. I mainly am going to be playing DotA 2 and the occasional FPS.

Would it be smart to purchase this card now? Or are there better options for my budget? Thanks.

Solution
If you need just the pc, then 500$ can get you a system with almost twice the gaming performance of a 7770:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($49.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($28.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB Video Card ($159.98 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case...
You can't pass up a good deal like that. I would pick it up now so you can take advantage of the deal. This card should run usual FPS games at reasonable frame rates on medium and maybe high settings. I hope your build goes well! Good luck! Make sure all your other components in your rig are not bottlenecking your system so you don't decrease one or more of the components fullest ability. 500$ should make a pretty decent pc as well.

Kept it 15$ under your budget in case you need an ODD also :)

Alright thanks a lot for the tips. I'll have to look into my build more then. I've never heard of that 650ti boost before. Would it be "bad" at all to put a nvidia card with amd processor or does that not matter at all?

Alright thanks again for all the help! I will definitely use that part list as a reference. I'm actually not going to be building a pc until a month or 2, after I move. I just wanted to know if i should snag that card or not since it was really cheap.

Cheers.
