Hi guys,

I've currently got an oolllddd Geforce 8800GTS video card and I'm thinking it's time to upgrade it to something a little more modern. What I'm struggling to determine is exactly how my old one compared to the new candidates, speed-wise. All the benchmarks that I can find for the 8800GTS seem to not be comparable to current benchmarks...

I'm looking at the AMD Radeon 7850 card as the likely replacement. Can anyone give me an idea of what sort of improvement I can expect? Is 500% faster reasonable? :) I'm looking to run 2560x1600 res and I'd like things to be fairly smooth.

Intel Core i7-3770K at about 3.5ghz
32gb ram
2 x 256gb SSD drives RAID 0

Video card is the weak link at the moment, hence the upgrade.

Wel its important to know if you play games and what games. At such a high resolution I would say rather spend some more money for smooth gameplay.
An HD7950 or GTX670 or even an GTX680 if you can afford it.
