Radeon 7870 vertical line crash

While I'm playing games on a brand new computer, it crashes with vertical lines on the screen with different colors each time. I took it down to the local computer store and he ran a benchmark and another test and said it wasn't the graphics card that it is some software but I don't think so. Opinions?

It could be many things. This is a problem that unfortunately if you yourself are not qualified or experienced enough to diagnose is the problem because if you can't fix it on your end there are just to many parameters for us on this end to sift through . You have to be very specific to your problem in order to have a hope in hell of having somebody here solve it for you.
