I reciently aquired my radeon 8500 and installed in in my system (XP 1600+, GA-7VTX-P, PC2100 Micron 256MB, SBLive, Win 2K, 400W Antec PSU)

It's quite stable running everything EXCEPT 3dMark2001. I've been monitoring the power on the board, and logging it, and I don't think it's a power problem, but I'm not 100% sure. Here are the log results.

+3.3 Low 3.18 V High 3.23 V Average 3.21 V
Last reading before crash: 3.22 V

+5.00 Low: 4.96 V High: 4.99 V Average: 4.98 V
Last reading before crash: 4.96 V

+12.00 Low: 12.07 V High: 12.20 V Average: 12.13 V
Last reading before crash: 12.14 V

I have 2 core readings with MBM 5, Core 0 and Core 1.
Core 0: all at 1.74 V
Core 1: all at 1.20 V

I would greatly apreciate any feedback.

Thats most likely a OS problem dude, my 8500 runs 3dmark 2001 with no probs whatsoever on ME.

You`ll get nothing and like it.

I think you're right. I don't have a problem in 98 SE. However, 3dMark2001 is the only app I have problems with in 2000, so it's likely a driver issue having to deal with a stability in a feature.

::translates::

Juin: I run my radeon 8500 on win2k with no problems.

::replys::

Juin, he is talking about 3dmark 2001, not the entire os.

I run 3DMark 2001 on XP and had no problems except for overclocking my card too high and getting serious graphical glitches. (ploygons warping, etc) Clocked the card down a bit and no problems.

It turns out it was the AGP Fast Write settings causing the instability. All it did was drop 3 points off my 3dMark2001 score for removing it, so probably no effect what so ever.

I can now say that my system is the most stable platform I've ever run on.
