How much faster do you think the 8500 will be over the AIW 8500DV?

A little slower (2 to 5fps) im thinking. Remember its sharing with a tv tuner and a 400mb firewire port.

"We learned from ATI that the next revision of drivers is almost finished, and that we can expect that could actually be faster than Geforce 3, even with Detonator 4. Radeon 8500 architecture and chip and memory certainly have the potential to do that.

Even if this becomes true, Nvidia is preparing the next generation of cards which will likely be faster than the R8500. To be sure about this, we'll just have to wait and see."

Hrmm.. gee. <b>ATI</b> says their new card <b>"could"</b> be faster than a Geforce3. Did you think ATI, the developer of this card upon whose continued existence relies upon its sales, would say anything else? They didn't even have the balls to say it "would" be faster than a Geforce3, probably because they can't prove it. This article is what is called "hype speculation", my misguided little friends.

I dunno why you guys continue to Troll all about this card with nothing but speculation claimed as fact, but I've had my fill of it. Just wait for the friggin' card to be available commercially and for REAL, REPRODUCIBLE benchmark comparisons to arrive. Until then, your claims of ATI superiority are nothing but immature flamebait.

Whoa can we say Anti-Ati!

It's just wishful thinking on some people's part we don't know that it will be faster than a Geforce 3. But why stone them cause they have faith in a product!

The card image quality is great can you image 16x FSAA on the Radeon 8500. The Voodoo5 6000 would only be able to do 8x. Geforce3 platium will only do 4x i here. Then Comes Truform and Smartshaders.

Whoah there Makaveli... I'm not anti-Ati... not since the year I ditched my Rage 128 at least.

I myself am excited about the new technology present in the Radeon 8500. However, I HATE trolls of any kind, whether they be nonsensical ATI trolls spouting false specifications or Nvidia trolls claiming the Geforce X Super Mega Ultra model owns everything.

I'm truly impressed that ATI can release a card that can outperform a GF3 only what, 4, 5 months later?

...not that I'm trying to bash ATI, I think it will be a great card, and I am glad NVidia will have some fierce competition, but, as to it beating the GF3, well duh.

If (when?) the two release cards concurrently, then it will be fair to compare them in terms of performance.

Why is everyone so impressed w/ teh 8500? Wait for the thing to come out. Plus there is one aspect which will make me not buy an 8500: My main thing is animation (although I can't say I don't play games), and the drivers for a GF3 can be hacked so that it becomes a Quadro DCC, and then using Maxtreme it's great in 3D Studio Max (although that Fire GL4 128MB makes me wish there were 2 AGP ports on a mobo). Anyway, if the 8500 beats the Gf3, then by all means I will consider it a better video card in gaming. For right now though, I like my GF3, and won't be buying a vid card in the next 1-2 years till they are integrated b/c QDR RAM is faster than vid card RAM. I wonder though, how much of a performance gain do you think you'd get if you made your own FULLY optimized drivers. That's what I'll try in a few months.

How does everyone think the 7500 will be?? I'll probably get a 7500 if it is quick enough for me.

Yea it does, but i meant the desktop version. How much better than the current radeon 64 SE?? I think it's clocked faster. Isn't it?

The SE was clocked at 198/198 if i'm not mistaken. Right?? So it should perform a little bit better i think. I'd say one of those and i'll be able to play nascar 4 smoothly. My TNT2 m64 doesn't cut it. 30fps isn't good enough. What do you guys think the 7500 will get in Nascar 4 in terms of FPS?? I'm guessing over 100fps. Anyone who has the game ever turn on the fps reader?? If u have it just hit "F" when you're racing.

yeah it most likely will. Well you could play on 2 monitors since dual head is already on the 7500 and 8500.

As far as I see it the Radeon 8500 should have no problem in beating the GF3. The specs are much better, more features and if the drivers are even half way decent it should beat the GF3. There is more to a card then FPS. Winner - Radeon 8500.

Hobbit would make this post about 1000 times now if he still here.

I think it is mature enough. ATi claims its faster then a Geforce 3 with DET4 drivers. nvidia shits there pant then release the GF3 ultra at the same time as the Radeon 8500. Weird time to release it i say. Well are little AMD user FUGGER should be happy.

The GF3 Ti500 (Ultra) is supposed to have twin Pixel and Vertex Shaders like the XBox, isn't it? It will also be running on a higher clock speed. This should ensure a much higher overall speed compared to the current vanilla GF3.

RCF: Whether or not the Radeon Maxx competes with teh Ti500 will depend on if and when it is released. The price is also gonna be a high factor. Doubling the silicon will put a high price penalty.
