There is no relase date as yet, the best we got is Q2 for the next gen AMD cards. But that might just be for the top tier cards (HD8950 and HD8970).
This is helpful. Thanks
And one more thing! How much does it cost when it's first released? The 8970 one! I guess it would be around the price of 7970 in the beginning, but how much is that?

I didn't know the release date, but AMD did leak that the cards would average at about a 20% price reduction from the previous models. That is MSRP though, so it might take a month or so when they are released for the prices to drop.
Rumours have the 8k series priced awfully low for the power they give - they also don't release the same way Nvidia does: they should be releasing the 8870 (Had to type that three times; my fingers want to type 7870.) in Q1; i.e. sometime soon.
i think 8870 will come around Q2 if 8900 comes out early Q2. if they launch 8800 series now with the rumored low MSRP then they will having hard time to sell current 7000 series. i read somewhere that amd states that they still haven't sell enough 7000 series so they will push the launch of 8000 series in Q2. charlie at S.A. said amd could launch 8000 series in Q1 if they want to but the inventory level of 7000 series still high so they push the launch of 8000 series to Q2
here is a lil something to help u out, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Sea_Islands_.28HD_8xxx.29_series
it has some specs of the card u need
and if u want u can guess the prices of it by comparing it with the 7000 series launch price http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Southern_Islands_.28HD_7xxx.29_series
all i can say is that the cards were supposed to launch at the end of 2012 but it got delayed due to some reasons,
and now people are saying it will definately be out by Q2 2013.
ofcourse none of this is officially said b AMD,
but i think that we'll see 8870 and others by Q2 for sure
and for the price of 8870:
wel.......... the launch of 6870 was at 239$ and 7870 was at 350$!!
so the 8870 should be around 200-250$ according to me. it might go till 300$ too
THIS was my best guess
This is the leaked specs of 8800 series, seems AMD is going to try and be very competitive with pricing this gen. I would assume the rest of the 8000 series would follow suit, so maybe $450-475 for an 8970.
Though it might not be accurate, changed since or even outright false, so who knows if these will be true.
