A friend of mine recently bought a Radeon 9500 nonPro under the impression it was the Pro model.

I've seen people flash a Radeon 9700Pro bios into a Radeon 9700 before.
I was wondering if you could flash the Radeon 9500Pro bios into a standard Radeon 9500.
I ruled out flashing the Radeon 9700Pro bios because it requires eight pixel pipelines, but the Radeon 9500Pro works with four.

I need to know if there are any problems I'm not seeing.
Also, where can I get the bios and software to flash it?

HUH? the 9500pro uses 8 pipelines, 9500np uses 4 while other 4's disabled and could be enabled however there's only a 50% success rate. 9700pro has 8 pipelines however it uses 256bit memory while 9500pro uses 128bit, some early Sapphire 9500np had 256bit but disabled, here's some things to look for
1.Red PCB
2.Memory in L shape
if those are true then there's a 50% chance it could be modded into the 9700np. I say non-pro because pro uses different memory. Check the rage3d forums and driverheaven for hacked drivers and bios flashing utilities.

A 9500 Non-Pro with the L-shaped memory can be software modified into a 9700 Non-Pro. The 9500 Non-Pro without that L-shaped memory can be modified into a 9500 Pro. It's the same modification, it enables the disabled pipelines. It works on many, but not all, cards.

Yeah, not all cards, i've read there's only a 50% success rate so it's better to just get a 9500pro and use it.

So what software and bios should I use?
(and where)
I can't seem to find anything at driverheaven.
Maybe I'm just not familiar with the site.

The Omega drivers offer the option of configuring a 9500 Non-Pro so that all 8 pipelines are enabled.

You just download the Omega drivers, when you are installing it it'll ask you what kind of driver to install.

Benchmark the fill rate in 3dmark03, let us know what you get.

I'll have to get back to you on that one.
My friend (owner of the card) doesn't live around here and doesn't yet know what 3DMarks is.
